Dancing With The Stars' Peta Murgatroyd Explains Brooke Burke Charvet's Exit: 'We Need A Younger Vibe'

The 18th season of Dancing With The Stars kicked off last night and not only were viewers introduced to a new line up, they were also greeted by Erin Andrews who has replaced Brooke Burke Charvet's role as co-host with Tom Bergeron.

News of Erin's new role on the show broke a few weeks after Brooke announced that she was not returning to the show, news that appeared to come as a complete surprise when Brooke tweeted: "Weird day….Shocking pre-season elimination #DWTS…ME. @Tom_Bergeron didn't even read my name. I won't be returning to the show this season."

And now professional dancer Peta Murgatroyd has appeared to give a reason as to why Brooke was replaced by Erin for the new season.

Referring to the change in her blog post for People magazine, Peta who has been teamed up with Big Time Rush's James Maslow, said:

"I think the changes are a great thing. Brooke [Burke-Charvet] has been an amazing host and she's such a beautiful person, but I think the show needs to develop a little bit more.

"We are trying to create a younger demographic watching our show. I really think we need a younger vibe. Erin Andrews is like the girl-next-door. She's been hosting for so many years and she's a friend of mine."

Meanwhile, love was in the air... for Danica McKellar at least when she kissed judge Bruno Tonioli after the judges rewarded her and her professional dance partner Val Chmerkovskiy with good marks for their first dance of the new season.

Having taken to the dance floor for the first time after weeks of practice, Danica who is famous for her role as Winnie Cooper in The Wonder Years, performed the foxtrot with Val, leaving the judges impressed.

Happy to be given all eights, Danica showed her gratitude by planting a kiss on Bruno to which the judge responded with: "I love a good kisser! You are so exuberant and warm!"

Len Goodman added: "You don’t get a second chance at a first impression, and my first impression is terrific."
