David Walliams Splits From Supermodel Wife Lara Stone After Five Years Of Marriage

It's been reported that David Walliams has split from wife Lara Stone after nearly five years of marriage, but both parties are opting to ignore the rumours on social media.

Since The Sun broke the story earlier this morning, David has remained quiet on Twitter and just retweeted a fan's photo for World Book Day.  Meanwhile, Lara seems more concerned about her injured foot.

Taking to Instagram to share a photo of her leg in a cast, the supermodel captioned the snap with "#PimpMyAirCast #Ouch #Sadface", with us obviously assuming that the final two hashtags are relevant to her broken heart as well as her broken foot.

#Sadface indeed.

David, who has 21-month-old son Alfred with Lara, is understandably said to be "devastated" after agreeing to a trial separation, with a source close to the comedian saying that he is trying to remain strong.

The insider shared: "David has been putting on a brave face.

"But people close to him are very worried because they know he's devastated. David is used to hiding his emotions with comedy because that's what he's always done, but on the inside it's a real wrench."

And apparently the sad news came as a shock to all of their friends, even though the couple have hardly seen each other over the last six months due to their busy work schedules.

The source revealed: "It has stunned David's friends and TV colleagues, everyone thought the marriage was strong."

31-year-old Lara and 43-year-old David tied the knot in May 2010, after one year of dating, and it is thought that David has already moved out of their North London home.

Still, the Little Britain star is said to be optimistic about a reunion, with the mysterious insider adding: "David hopes it is a blip and that they can get the marriage back on track somehow, especially seeing as there is a child involved.

"He is still fiercely protective of Lara."

Well, we will be keeping our fingers crossed for a reconciliation too.
