Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Joins Suicide Squad

It looks as though Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has switched sides from Marvel to DC… as he lands the role of Killer Croc in ‘Suicide Squad’.

According to The Wrap, the 47-year-old actor has landed a juicy role in the upcoming ‘Suicide Squad’ movie – as Batman villain, Killer Croc.

“Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje is switching sides and moving from Marvel to DC, as he’s set to play Killer Croc in WB’s ‘Suicide Squad’,” they revealed. “Representatives for Warner Bros. and Akinnuoye-Agbaje did not immediately respond to requests for comment.”

But who is Killer Croc?

This hulking Batman villain is known for his lizard-like features. Known as Waylon Jones, he was born with a form of atavism which left him with reptilian traits. Powerful and merciless, he’s one of Batman’s rogue’s gallery. And now it seems he’ll be heading to WB’s ‘Suicide Squad’.

Of course, with Warner Bros. creating a largely gritty and realistic DC cinematic universe, I can’t help wondering how the increasingly wild ‘Suicide Squad’ is going to fit in. After all, it’s one thing having a band of villains and mercenaries thrown together to track down the Batman… but Killer Croc has a rather distinct look that isn’t going to just blend right in.

If they remain faithful to the comic books, that is.

It’s entirely possible that WB could take inspiration from the character and create something vastly different for the big screen. But for now, we’ll have to wait and see.

Either way, it looks as though Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has landed the role. And after his impressive stint on ‘Lost’ I can’t help thinking he’ll make an incredibly intimidating Killer Croc.

‘Suicide Squad’ heads to cinemas on 5 August 2016.
