Affleck's Gone Girl Movie Has Different Ending To The Book

The author of best-seller ‘Gone Girl’ has revealed that the forthcoming film has a different ending to the book.

The film is being made by David Fincher, with Ben Affleck in the lead role.

But it will not feature the book’s controversial conclusion, and has instead been given ‘a new third act’, says writer Gillian Flynn.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, she said: “Ben [Affleck] was so shocked by it. He would say, ‘This is a whole new third act! She literally threw that third act out and started from scratch’.

But far from being upset at the move, it appears that Flynn was happy with the filmmakers makers plot adjustments.

“There was something thrilling about taking this piece of work that I’d spent about two years painstakingly putting together with all its 8,000,000 LEGO pieces and take a hammer to it and bash it apart and reassemble it into a movie,” she said.

The film centres on the Affleck’s character’s becoming the prime suspect when his wife disappears, and an ensuing did-he, didn’t-he plot.

It’s known for its serpentine twists, so it could also prove a successful move to make the film a different proposition.

Alongside Affleck are Rosamund Pike as missing wife Amy Dunne, Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry  and Patrick Fugit.

It’s due out in October.
