Alicia Vikander has said there were times when she hasn’t felt “protected” while shooting intimate scenes.

The Ex Machina and Danish Girl actor opened up in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, saying that the intimacy coaches that are used on movies these days should have been around at the start of her career.

“I’ve been in situations that were not fine, where I didn’t feel I was protected,” she said.

The 33-year-old spoke of one occasion where "everyone was busy doing their own thing and, in the middle, you have an actor who sits there naked for a couple of hours. And someone is supposed to arrive with a robe, and they don’t”.

The Swedish star said the knowledge that it wasn’t right came afterwards.

“I should have been looked after,” she added.

Vikander — who has a baby boy with her husband Michael Fassbender — said intimate scenes can’t be improvised and that it is necessary to choreograph them.

She told the mag that although she is comfortable with herself and her body, shooting scenes like that for a movie is never an easy thing.

In 2019, the Jason Bourne actor shared that all of her sex scenes had always been very technical and that she tells the crew it will be “a one-taker”.

“That way, everybody on set is on point, because you have to get it done in one take,” Vikander told Harper’s Bazaar.

“Like a dancer, we [choreographed it] the same way.

"I think that's the way to do it because then everyone feels comfortable and then hopefully, although it is super strange and uncomfortable, a little magic comes through a lens and people will be convinced."

Vikander tied the knot with Fassbender in 2017 and they welcomed their son last year.
