Proof That All Female Disney Characters 'Have The Same Face'

Ever noticed anything a bit, well, samey about the look of female Disney and Pixar characters?

Well, now thanks to some investigative work by one eagle-eyed fan, it appears that there’s a reason for that.

It was after seeing the new artwork for Pixar movie ‘Inside Out’ that Tumblr user Alex – under the name Something Classy – spotted the similarities between the faces of the female characters.

Defined with a round chin and a small nose, he traced out the faces of male characters in the ‘Inside Out’ image – which encompass all manner of shapes – and then the faces of female characters.

As you’ll see, the results are pretty remarkable.

Scaling the experiment up, Alex then plots the diversity between the male faces of 16 male characters and 16 female characters, finding they could scarcely be more different.

“So when I saw this picture for the new Pixar movie ‘Inside Out’,” writes Alex.

“At first I thought the characters were three women and two aliens, but after seeing the trailer I realized the purple and red things were supposed to be dudes. After tracing their faces, I figured out why I was so weirded out.

“The two male characters have extremely distinctive face shapes, while the three female characters basically have the exact same shape; round with a small nose.”

“Apparently every Disney woman is a clone/direct descendant of some primordial creature with huge round cheeks and a disturbingly small nose, because there is no other explanation (yes there is (it’s lazy sexism)) for the incredible lack of diversity among these female faces.”

And then the anger comes…

“DISNEY.

WHY DOES EVERY WOMAN THAT YOU HAVE CREATED IN THE LAST DECADE HAVE THE EXACT SAME FACE SHAPE? AND DON’T TELL ME IT’S BECAUSE WOMEN ARE HARDER TO ANIMATE. STOP ASSUMING EVERY WOMAN HAS A ROUND BABY FACE AND A SHORT CUTE BABY NOSE. YOU CAN’T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS. GET YOUR SH*T TOGETHER.”

And that, you’ll find, is Disney told.
