The James Bond films are returning to UK cinemas for 007's 60th anniversary

A James Bond retrospective has been announced for Vue and Odeon cinemas across the UK and Ireland to celebrate the spy franchise's 60th anniversary.

All 25 Bond films from 1962's Dr No to 2021's No Time To Die will be released in chronological order beginning mid-April, and will be projected in 4K.

Audiences were first introduced to Ian Fleming's creation on the big screen in 1962, with Sir Sean Connery playing 007 in Dr. No.

There have been 25 official Bond films released to date — 1967's Casino Royale and 1983's Never Say Never Again are not considered canon — starring Connery, George Lazenby, Sir Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig as 007.

The release dates for the films are as follows:

• On Her Majesty's Secret Service - 20 May

• Diamonds Are Forever - 27 May

• The Spy Who Loved Me - 17 June

• Moonraker - 24 June

• For Your Eyes Only - 1 July

• Octopussy - 8 July

• A View To A Kill - 15 July

• The Living Daylights - 22 July

• Licence To Kill - 29 July

• GoldenEye - 5 August

• Tomorrow Never Dies - 12 August

• The World Is Not Enough - 19 August

• Die Another Day - 26 August

• Casino Royale - 2 September

• Quantum of Solace - 9 September

• No Time To Die - 30 September

The news follows the recent announcement that all 25 Bond films would be available to stream on Prime Video from 15 April.

In March, Amazon finalised an acquisition of the Hollywood studio for $8.5bn (£6.5bn). MGM is co-owner of the James Bond films with Eon Productions, the British production firm run by Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson.

Tributes have already been paid to the long-running spy series at the Baftas, which saw Dame Shirley Bassey performing Diamonds Are Forever in the show opening, and at the Academy Awards where a montage was played during the ceremony.

A new James Bond video game is also in development at IO Interactive, from the makers of the Hitman games.
