Ant-Man: Paul Rudd is "Ripped," Says Michael Douglas

'Ant-Man' actor Michael Douglas has spoken highly of the physique his co-star Paul Rudd has honed for the upcoming Marvel movie.

The screen veteran tells MTV News, “Paul Rudd is ripped.

“He’s been training and working out for this picture for a long time. He was so cut, that they had to soften his costume up, with all the built-in six-packs and all of that.”

Well, we always thought taking on a superhero role would be quite the departure from the comedic roles Rudd is best known for, in the likes of ‘Knocked Up’ and the ‘Anchorman’ films.

Rudd takes the lead as Scott Lang, a thief who inadvertently inherits the mantle of Ant-Man from scientific genius Hank Pym, played by Douglas.

Naturally, this left some of us wondering whether we might get to see Douglas himself don the red and black shrinking suit - but the actor insists this won’t happen.

“My costume will be hung up, and Paul will be wearing it in good form.”

Currently in production, ‘Ant-Man’ is already infamous for its behind the scenes troubles, having been abandoned by original director Edgar Wright when studio executives demanded changes to his screenplay (co-written by Joe Cornish).

Now, Peyton Reed has taken over as director, with Adam McKay helping out on script rewrites. Douglas and Rudd’s co-stars include Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll and Judy Greer.

'Ant-Man' is set to hits cinemas on 17 July 2015.
