Ant-Man Writers Join Transformers Spin-Off

It looks as though ‘Ant-Man’ writers Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari will be taking on the Transformers… as they join the upcoming spin-off.

According to Deadline, the recent scribes of the ‘Ant-Man’ rewrite will be heading over to the ‘Transformers’ universe for the upcoming franchise spin-off.

“Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari, who spent half a year doing the production rewriting on Marvel’s Ant-Man, have become the latest to join the writers room that Paramount Pictures and director Michael Bay have organized to hatch sequels, prequels and spinoffs on their billion-dollar Transformers franchise.”

Of course, Barrer and Ferrari are best known for their contributions to the ‘Ant-Man’ script… but are also working on the upcoming ‘Sabrina The Teenage Witch’. And now it seems they will be adding ‘Transformers’ to their resume.

But what will the ‘Transformers’ spin-off be about?

“One of the ideas in the works has a working title of ‘Transformers One’ and that it is more or less an origins story that takes place on Cybertron, the planet where the good-guy and bad-guy robots hail from.”

Considering that all of the recent ‘Transformers’ movies have been set firmly on Earth, it sounds as though a Cybertron movie is rather fertile ground for a spin-off… and would give fans an interesting glimpse at the Transformers’ origins.

But it might not be a live-action feature…

“I’ve also heard that this might be an animated feature but that Barrer & Ferrari are also going to the writers room with the expectation they’ll write a live-action Transformers movie as well,” they revealed. “Paramount insiders said they haven’t gotten that far on the specific projects, but I am told this is the plan.”

Either way, it looks as though Barrer and Ferrari could be in it for the long haul, and might find themselves contributing to the ‘Transformers’ writing room in a big way.

But will this Cybertron spin-off be any good? For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
