We've got an exclusive clip from The Virtuoso, starring Anthony Hopkins and Star Trek: Discovery's Anson Mount.

In the clip, which you can see above, Mount's assassin reports back into his cold-blooded boss and mentor (Hopkins) after his latest job. He's clearly still haunted by one "loose end" from a past job though: "I keep seeing them burning."

The thriller sees the assassin visit a sleepy country town on a new assignment from his mentor. He's given a time, a location and a cryptic clue, and left to identify his mysterious foe from several possible targets, including a local sheriff (David Morse).

However, a chance encounter with a woman (Abbie Cornish) at the town's rustic diner threatens to derail his mission altogether.

Directed by Nick Stagliano, The Virtuoso also stars Eddie Marsan and Game of Thrones star Richard Brake. It is released on digital platforms in the UK this Friday (April 30) and on DVD from May 10.

Over the weekend, Hopkins was the surprise winner of Best Actor at this year's Oscars for his performance in The Father.

He wasn't in attendance at the event and posted an acceptance speech on Monday (April 26) where he paid tribute to Chadwick Boseman, who many thought was going to win for his final movie role.

"Here I am in my homeland in Wales and at 83 years of age I did not expect to get this award, I really didn't. I'm very grateful to the Academy and thank you," Hopkins said.

"I want to pay tribute to Chadwick Boseman, who was taken from us far too early, and again thank you all very much. I really did not expect this, so I feel very privileged and honoured. Thank you."

The Virtuoso is released on digital platforms in the UK on April 30 and on DVD on May 10.
