Aquaman: Jason Momoa Hopes Zack Snyder Will Direct

Jason Momoa has promised his big screen take on DC superhero Aquaman will be a ‘bad-ass’ - insisting, not unreasonably, that Warners/DC wouldn’t have cast him in the role otherwise. (And really, who’s going to argue with him?)

Long rumoured to have been cast in the role whilst also being linked to other DC characters Lobo and Doomsday - both of whom might have seemed a more obvious fit to the imposing actor - Momoa was confirmed in October to be portraying the Atlantean adventurer with the less-than intimidating earthly alter ego of Arthur Curry.

Momoa has thus far been confirmed to appear in the role in ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice,’ the two ‘Justice League’ movies in 2017 and 2019, and an ‘Aquaman’ solo movie in 2018.

For one thing, Momoa admits that he had been cast as Aquaman for some time, but was contractually obliged to keep quiet until the October announcement of the DC slate. Of the other roles he was linked to, Momoa admits he would have liked to play Lobo (not on the DC slate at present).

Momoa also reportedly declares himself a big fan of his ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ director Zack Snyder, who he hopes will direct the ‘Aquaman’ solo movie - though honestly this seems unlikely, given that solo film will land smack in the middle of the two ‘Justice League’ films, to which Snyder is already committed.

Other than that, Momoa kept tight-lipped on ‘Batman V Superman,’ calling it “a dream” to portray a superhero, and dodging the question of who would win between Batman and Superman by responding, “why can’t they be friends?”
