Stock up on your Angelina Jolie DVDs now, because she may not be making many more on-screen appearances.

The Oscar-winning actress has been concentrating more on her humanitarian efforts and film directing these days, with her second effort behind the camera, Unbroken, set for release on Christmas Day. She enjoyed the process of making the movie, about Olympian and WWII hero Louis Zamperini, so much, in fact, she thinks the end of her acting career may be in sight.

“I’ve never been comfortable as an actor; I’ve never loved being in front of the camera,” Jolie tells Du Jour in a new cover story. “I didn’t ever think I could direct, but I hope I’m able to have a career at it because I’m much happier.”

When asked if she was planning on retiring from in-front-of-the-camera work, she said simply, “Absolutely.”

That being said, don’t get too worried about Angelina withdrawal just yet. Though she doesn’t appear in Unbroken, which stars Jack O’Connell, she has a lead role in her next directorial effort, By the Sea, in which she’ll costar with her husband, Brad Pitt.

“Compared to Unbroken, this film is a walk in the park,“ she told Du Jour. "The tricky thing is directing myself and directing Brad. It’s hard, dramatic material, and we’re balancing. It’s a heavy film, and it’s not easy for us. But even as you struggle through it, you’re in the trenches together and you don’t expect it to be easy. We’re challenging each other and that’s a really good thing.”

That won’t be her last one, either, because when asked about her plans in a Variety cover story (she’s on a lot of covers this week), Jolie promised that she’ll “do a few more.”

So no, it’s not Career, Interrupted just yet.
