Arnold Schwarzenegger To Become The New Face Of Compare The Market

Arnold Schwarzenegger is limbering up to become the new face of the Compare The Market adverts, according to reports.

The 67-year-old ‘Terminator’ star and former governor of California will be joining meerkat mascot Aleksandr and his furry chums in a new ad which will see the unlikely lot strolling around Hollywood.

A source told The Sun: “Arnie has worldwide appeal. He’s not going to come cheap but it will pay off in the long run.”

If the advertising coup comes off, Arnie will become the latest in a rash of Hollywood stars lending their celebrity to British ads.

The Austrian Oak’s former rival Sylvester Stallone is set to appear in an ad for bread makers Warburton’s. Elsewhere, ‘Pulp Fiction’ star Harvey Keitel has been stumping for insurance company Direct Line dressed up as the movie’s ‘cleaner’ Winston Wolfe, while Kevin Bacon is still appearing in ads for mobile network EE.

Meanwhile, the appointment of Arnie follows rumours that Compare The Market is set to take over the Orange Wednesdays cinema promotion. EE, which merged Orange and T-Mobile in 2010, is canning the long-standing two-for-one cinema tickets offer to its customers from this month.

A spokesperson for Compare The Market told MoneySavingExpert in December: “We can confirm that we are currently exploring a mutually beneficial partnership with the cinema industry.”
