Ash Vs Evil Dead Teaser Promises Gore Galore

A new promo for upcoming TV series ‘Ash Vs Evil Dead’ has emerged online, and it’s leaving horror fans everywhere breathless with anticipation.

It’s only 20 seconds long, it doesn’t show any deadites, nor does it show the face of star Bruce Campbell (indeed, in all likelihood the man in the clip isn’t even him).

However, it does promise the return of two key elements of the ‘Evil Dead’ legend: blood, and chainsaws. And then, of course, there’s that iconic one-word utterance: “groovy…”

Watch the teaser below.

Back in autumn 2013 - in the wake of the largely well-received and commercially successful ‘Evil dead’ reboot - word first broke that the original ‘Evil Dead’ team of writer-director Sam Raimi, producer Rob Tapert and actor-producer Bruce Campbell were considering a return to their signature franchise.

Initially rumour had it that plans were for a direct sequel to the last official ‘Evil Dead’ film, 1992′s ‘Army of Darkness,’ but these reports were quickly quashed by Campbell himself, and for a while it seemed the whole thing might have been nothing but wishful thinking from fans.

However, in November 2014 it was confirmed that Campbell, Tapert and Raimi were reuniting for ‘Ash Vs Evil Dead,’ a TV mini-series set to air on US network Starz (also home of Raimi and Tapert’s hit TV series ‘Spartacus’).

Currently in production in New Zealand - a favoured location of Raimi and Tapert, who also shot ‘Hercules: the Legendary Journeys,’ ‘Xena: Warrior Princess,’ ‘Spartacus’ and the ‘Evil Dead’ remake there - ‘Ash Vs Evil Dead’ will consist of 10 half-hour episodes, catching up with Campbell’s dim-witted deadite-fighting hero more than twenty years after his last big screen misadventure.

Lucy Lawless and Mimi Rogers will co-star, and Sam Raimi directs the first episode, as well as co-writing the series with his brother Ivan. It’s expected to air on Starz this autumn - no word yet on when or where we can expect to see it in the UK.
