First Look: Avengers: Age of Ultron's Villain Unveiled

Entertainment Weekly has given us our first proper look at Ultron, the robot villain of Marvel’s upcoming ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’. Check out the cover below.

There’s also a whole host of new info about the much-anticipated sequel in the Comic-Con special issue which will hit news-stands this Friday.

Spoilers ahead.

The issue confirms (as suggested by previous rumours) that Tony Stark creates Ultron in order to give the Avengers a much-needed break from saving the world, however the sentient robot (voiced and mo-capped by James Spader) has plans of his own.

"His superior intellect quickly determines that life on Earth would go a lot smoother if he just got rid of Public Enemy No. 1: Human beings," explains EW.

That plan includes taking control of Tony Stark’s Iron Legion, an army of drones designed by the billionaire philanthropist to battle evildoers.

"[Ultron has] a bad habit of rebuilding himself into stronger and more fearsome physical forms," adds EW.

The article also confirms the presence of a new Avenger The Vision, who is believed to be played by Paul Bettany in an upgraded role. Bettany has previously voiced Tony Stark’s AI Butler Jarvis in the ‘Iron Man’ films, so it seems his character will transform into The Vision, a powerful android who is a regular member of The Avengers in the comics.

'Avengers: Age of Ultron' is coming to UK cinemas on 24 April, 2015 but you can read more from Entertainment Weekly's exclusive preview here.
