Avengers: Age Of Ultron Crosses $1 Billion Mark

In what’s the least surprising cinematic news of the year ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’ has now made over $1 billion at the global box office.

It’s only taken the huge ensemble blockbuster three weeks to pass this momentous milestone, which it leaped over on Friday, May 15. ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’ is now the third Marvel film to have made over $1 billion, following in the footsteps of ‘Iron Man 3’ and ‘The Avengers’.

‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’ is the second film of 2015 to move over the billion dollar threshold, and Marvel Studios will now be hoping that it can close in on ‘Furious 7’s’ $1.46 billion.

‘Furious 7’ is actually now the fourth highest grossing film of all time, and it currently sits behind the original ‘Avengers’’ sum of $1.58 billion, ‘Titanic’s’ $2.1 billion, and ‘Avatar’s’ $2.7 billion.

However there are serious doubts that ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’ will be able to reach the amount of its original. While ‘Age Of Ultron’ is performing admirably in in a number of territories across the globe, its mixed reviews in comparison to its predecessor mean that it might struggle to match its total.

It had previously been suggested before ‘Age Of Ultron’ was released that it could actually hit $2 billion. However that’s unlikely to happen now. But the fact that it’s currently the 21st highest grossing movie of all time should still be good enough for now.
