BAFTAs 2015: Stephen Hawking Gets Standing Ovation

Stephen Hawking earned a standing ovation when he co-presented award for Best Visual Effects at the BAFTAs on Sunday.

The eminent theoretical physicist was joined on stage by Felicity Jones - who played his ex-wife in the film ‘The Theory Of Everything’.

She described Hawking as the only man more intelligent than the show’s host Stephen Fry. Hawking then quipped he was also “better looking”.

Hawking and Jones then handed over the BAFTA for special visual effects to ‘Interstellar’ trio Paul Franklin, Scott Fisher, Andrew Lockler.

Latter on in the night, Eddie Redmayne won the Best Actor prize for his portrayal of Hawking in ‘The Theory Of Everything’.

The movie also won prizes for Outstanding British Film and Adapted Screenplay at the event.

The film with the most prizes was ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ – with five – though ‘Boyhood’ won the prestigious Best Film.
