Batman v Superman: Fan Favourite Is Dead Before Film Begins

New details regarding ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ have revealed more about the history of Ben Affleck’s Caped Crusader, and his story prior to the events of Zack Snyder’s new film.

Badass Digest are reporting some minor details about the film’s backstory, but they reveal that a well-known Batman character has died before ‘Dawn of Justice’ begins.

WARNING: Spoilers for ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ follow.

"Batman has been operating in Gotham for 17 years," reads their report. "That means there are a lot of untold Batman stories in this universe, which is different from the one established by Christopher Nolan in his ‘Dark Knight’ trilogy."

One of the differences is that Batman’s long-time friend Commissioner James Gordon has died. “How and at whose hands I cannot tell you,” says the report, “all that’s noted in the script is that there’s a memorial plaque to James Gordon. This explains why the role wasn’t cast for the film, at least.”

As Badass Digest go on to say, Gordon’s death could be explored in a future film. Reports earlier this year indicated that the ‘Wonder Woman’ solo movie might act as a prequel to the character’s introduction in ‘Dawn of Justice’, so perhaps a Batman solo movie could do the same.

Another detail in the report reveals that two action scenes take place in Batman’s stomping ground Gotham City, a fight between the two superheroes (possibly the one glimpsed in the Comic Con tease) and another climatic battle scene.

Affleck stars opposite Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Laurence Fisburne & Jeremy Irons. it will be released on May 25, 2016.
