Batman v Superman: Find Out Who Starts The Fight In Dawn Of Justice

Everyone knows Batman and Superman will duke it out in next year’s ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ it’s kind of there in the film’s title, but why will they come to blows?

New details regarding how the two iconic superheroes meet in Zack Snyder’s ‘Man of Steel’ follow-up have been reported, and it appears another well-known character will be spurring the two on.

Warning: spoilers follow.

Badass Digest’s Devin Faraci reports that it’s Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor who plays puppet master, convincing Kal-El to travel to Gotham City and seek out the Dark Knight himself. Apparently when he does, Superman obliterates the Batmobile with a single punch - which would certainly give Bruce Wayne reason enough to hate the last son of Krypton.

Faraci doesn’t go on to explain the reasons behind Lex Luthor and Superman being on the same page at this point in the story - “Why would Superman do Lex Luthor’s bidding? What is Lex hoping to accomplish?” - and for that we’re grateful, nobody likes to read stories that spoil the entirety of the plot.

The reasoning appears different to that of the film’s source material and inspiration, Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns. In that influential story Superman is tasked by the United States President to put Batman away after his campaign of vigilante justice gets out of hand. In ‘Dawn of Justice’ however, the government are still wary, even scared of Superman.

Yesterday Warner Bros gave us our first look at Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.

Henry Cavill reprises his role as Superman alongside Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Martha Kent and Laurence Fisburne as Daily Planet editor Perry White, who all return from ‘Man of Steel’. They’ll be joined by Ben Affleck’s Batman, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, Eisenberg as Luthor and Jason Momoa in a cameo as Aquaman.

'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' is set for release on 25 March, 2016.
