Batman V Superman: Henry Cavill Dismisses Two-Film Rumour

Henry Cavill has denied the rumour that ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ is to be divided into two separate films.

The ‘Man of Steel’ actor who will make his sophomore appearance as Superman in the eagerly-anticipated 2016 Warner Bros/DC movie, reportedly debunked the claims at a BAFTA party in Los Angeles this weekend.

Rumours first surfaced this past Friday that Zack Snyder’s superhero sequel, set to show DC’s three most iconic characters sharing the screen for the first time in live action (including Gal Gadot as the first big screen Wonder Woman), would be released in two volumes, with the first coming in October 2015.

Variety reporter Ramin Setoodoeh did not get a direct quote from Cavill, but this tweet would seem to get the point across:

Further tweets saw Cavill declare his co-star Ben Affleck “a great Batman,” and jovially dismiss the notion that he might have been injured fighting Affleck on camera (“Are you kidding? I’m the Man of Steel”).

Meanwhile, the question of whether ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ might prove to be a better film than ‘The Avengers’ prompted the simple response, “you’ll see.”

It’s no great surprise to see the two-film rumour denied. Given that the DC movie schedule for the next five years has long since been made public, with no mention of ‘Batman V Superman’ being split in half, it did seem unlikely that such a surprise would be sprung on us at thus point.

In any case, we know there will be a two-volume approach taken to ‘Justice League,’ whose instalments will be released in November 2017 and June 2019 respectively.

Until we hear differently, the complete ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ is still set to hit screens on 25 March 2016.
