Batman V Superman: No 'Catfights' Between Lois Lane And Wonder Woman, Says Amy Adams

'Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice' may see the two big men of DC Comics butt heads, but Amy Adams says we shouldn't anticipate any similar altercations between female leads Lois Lane and Wonder Woman.

The Oscar-nominated actress, who made her debut as Superman’s roving reporter love interest alongside Henry Cavill in ‘Man of Steel,’ assures Coming Soon that her character and Gal Gadot’s Amazonian warrior princess will not be competing for for the Man of Steel’s heart.

“They always think that if you put in another woman and automatically… ‘Catfight!’ No, I think that’s a male fantasy thing. I don’t think that’s reality.

“I don’t know how it will turn out, if we’re going to be competition, but we are not in this, I can safely say, and we’re not in real life. She’s just the coolest girl ever.”

While it’s not surprising that this question might come up, I’m not sure if there has been any particular expectation that a Lois/Clark/Diana love triangle would be on the cards. Historically, Superman and Wonder Woman have tended to work side-by-side in an entirely platonic relationship, although particularly in the New 52 series things have grown a bit more romantic.

Indeed, Adams implies that Lois Lane and Wonder Woman may not even be sharing the screen a great deal this time around:

"I was really excited that Gal (Gadot) was involved, because it was nice to have another girl on set, even if we don’t work together a lot, it was nice to have her there.”

It has long been rumoured that Wonder Woman’s role in ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ will be minimal, with the character set to be properly established in her 2017 solo movie and the two ‘Justice League’ movies to follow.

While Adams does not comment on this, she does give some indication as to Lois Lane’s role in the film, in another new interview with Collider.

Adams says, “Lois is still sort of like the key to the information, you know?  She’s the girl going out and getting it and figuring it out and putting it together and all of that, so she’s very much involved, but I kind of leave the heavy lifting to the boys, you know?  So to speak.”

This interview also sees Adams mention feeling “very short” next to Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa - which inevitably leads us to suspect she may be sharing scenes with the debutante Aquaman as well.

Adams will next be seen in Tim Burton’s new movie ‘Big Eyes,’ opening on Christmas Day, for which she is hotly tipped for another Oscar nod.
