Benedict Cumberbatch Visited The Star Wars: Episode VII Set

Although Benedict Cumberbatch has furiously denied rumours linking him to ‘Star Wars VII’ it looks as though he’s already been on set with good pal J.J. Abrams. But was it a set visit or something more official?

It’s no secret that Benedict Cumberbatch has been tipped (numerous times) for a role in the upcoming ‘Star Wars’ sequel… and after appearing in Abrams’ ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ it’s certainly not beyond the realms of possibility. But will he really head to the galaxy far, far away? It looks as though he may have already made the trip.

In an upcoming interview with Graham Norton (featured on tonight’s Graham Norton Show), the 38-year-old British actor revealed that he’s already been on the set of ‘Star Wars VII’.

“I went to the set,” he admitted according to The Metro. “It was incredible”.

But he soon realised that he may have said a bit too much… and quickly tried to cover his tracks. “I probably shouldn’t be saying these things,” he added.

Of course, there are already plenty of high-profile celebrities who have called in a favour to visit the ‘Star Wars VII’ set – most notably Kevin Smith, who admitted that seeing the galaxy far, far away brought him to tears.

But could there be a bit more to Cumberbatch’s visit?

He’s long been connected to the upcoming ‘Star Wars’ sequel after rumours began to circulate that J.J. Abrams was eyeing him for a role. And while the rumours still remain unconfirmed, perhaps there’s some truth to them after all.

Obviously, Graham Norton was quick to pick up on this… but after asking Cumberbatch whether he’ll appear in the upcoming movie, he simply replied: ‘no comment’.

Although Cumberbatch remains silent on the subject, it looks as though there’s suddenly a lot more weight to those earlier rumours. But will he really end up in ‘Star Wars VII’? For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
