Yahoo Movies Bill & Ted 3 writers will be paying tribute to late star George Carlin
Bill & Ted Face the Music recently revealed an excellent first trailer, and it has now been revealed that the movie will pay a touching tribute to one of the franchise's biggest stars.
While the third movie will bring back original stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, one notable omission will be Rufus actor George Carlin, who sadly passed away in 2008.
However, speaking to Fandango, writers Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson revealed that there will be two Easter eggs that reference the actor, one being character Kelly (Kristen Schaal), who is named after Carlin's real-life daughter.

The other nod is the watch that the characters were given in the first film, which reveals a message from Rufus: "Sometimes things don't make sense until the end of the story."
The new movie will see Bill and Ted tasked with uniting the world saving "reality as we know it" by writing a song.
The first trailer depicts them struggling with the song, however, before going to the future to take it from themselves.

"How is that stealing if we're stealing it from ourselves, dude?" Bill points out.
During their new adventure, they will once again encounter historical figures and get some help from their own children along the way.
The movie will also star Glee's Jayma Mays, William Sadler, Hal Landon Jr, Holland Taylor and Kid Cudi.
Bill & Ted Face the Music is currently set for release on August 21.
