Boardwalk Empire Star Wants Marvel Black Panther Role

'Boardwalk Empire' and 'The Wire' star Michael K. Williams has expressed a keen interest in playing Black Panther in a future Marvel Studios movie.

First asked by Cinema Blend whether he’d like to be in a Marvel superhero film, he was then questioned on what role he’d like to take on. ”Black Panther. Yeah, definitely. I grew up with it, but I’m more excited about the opportunity.

"I’m a little more old school," he continued, speaking of his comic tastes. "I was into Superman, Batman, Spider-Man - my three top favourites by far. And then you know Wonder Woman, Aquaman.

"That’s my world, that’s my childhood. I would definitely bring that quintessential New York City edge. You know, just a little bit of that grit."

While he admits that he has not been approached, Williams’ comments are certainly aimed at the studio whose attention he hopes to capture.

"No [I haven’t been approached] yet. And I’m saying ‘yet’ with a lot of emphasis. But hopefully I’m looking forward to being apart of the franchise."

Williams was on the promotional trail for new film ‘Kill The Messenger’, which stars Avenger Jeremy Renner, which is released in the UK in March 2015.

A Black Panther film has yet to be confirmed by Marvel, but is widely-believed to form part of their post-‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ Phase Three of films, alongside ‘Ant-Man’, ‘Captain America 3’ and ‘Doctor Strange’.
