Brad Bird Is Probably Directing The Incredibles 2

Is Brad Bird directing ‘The Incredibles 2′? It certainly looks that way, even though he’s refused to 100% confirm that he will be.

Bird is currently out and about doing promotional work for ‘Tomorrowland’, and along the way he was always going to be asked about the hugely anticipated follow-up to 2004’ The Incredibles, which he is currently writing.

However when ‘The Incredibles 2′ was originally announced Bird’s inclusion as the film’s director was suspiciously left off the press release. This led Collider to inquire as to whether Bird could “confidently say ‘The Incredibles 2′ is his next project?”

Bird then responded, “Yeah it feels like it to me, yeah.” Is that a yes? Not definitively, but it’s a very, very good sign.

Bird is one of the most inventive and exhilarating filmmakers in cinema, having previously worked on the early seasons of ‘The Simpsons’, then wrote and directed ‘The Iron Giant’ and ‘Ratatouille’, before transitioning to live-action with ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’ and now ‘Tomorrowland’.

The two-time Academy Award winner wasn’t done talking about ‘The Incredibles 2′ though, as he also opened up about where he is with the script for the sequel too.

“Oh yeah I have pages, a bunch of pages,” he boasted. “I had a lot of ideas for the original ‘Incredibles’ that I didn’t get a chance to use, that I like. I have ideas that I wanted to pursue a little bit and there wasn’t enough time in ‘Incredibles’. There are new ideas I have, and I think there are enough of those together to make an interesting movie.”

And I think that every ‘Incredibles’ fan would agree that there is no other filmmaker in the world who we trust more with the franchise that the man who originally brought them to life.

‘Tomorrowland’ is due out in the UK on May 22, while ‘The Incredibles 2′ will hit in 2016.
