Captain America: Civil War Set Photos Reveal Crossbones

It looks as though ‘Captain America: Civil War’ has just unveiled one of its new villains… as Frank Grillo suits up on set as the infamous Crossbones.

It’s no secret that Crossbones would be heading to our screens in ‘Captain America: Civil War’. After all, actor Frank Grillo has been rather vocal about his return. But what we didn’t know is whether or not the iconic Captain America villain would be sporting his classic look.

At least, until now.

Thanks to the folks at Just Jared, we’ve got our first glimpse at Frank Grillo’s awesome new costume… and it looks as though Brock Rumlow has had a bit of an upgrade.

Shooting scenes in an African Village – presumed to be Wakanda – we see Captain America and The Falcon (played by Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie) assemble to take on the classic villain, Crossbones.

And that costume is going to be a real fan pleaser.

Donning a combat helmet which would fit right in at the local paintballing range, Frank Grillo’s Crossbones is sporting a gritty, urban look which really matches the character… but brings him a bit more up to date. The skull-motif isn’t entirely obvious – neither are the crossed bones on his chest. Instead, we have a more subtle, tactical take on the costume.

But with those pneumatic-looking fists, subtlety isn’t exactly the name of the game.

Of course, this seems to be a call back to the original comic book character. Often known for his fighting prowess and weapon skills, he was armed with a knife, collapsible crossbow and most importantly, spring-loaded stiletto blade gauntlets which seems to have provided some inspiration for his current look.

Will Captain America and the Falcon come out on top? For now, we’ll have to wait and see. But he’s a formidable opponent with a score to settle… and that could mean trouble.
