Captain America: Civil War Will Set Up Avengers: Infinity War

Now that we’ve all had a chance to watch, digest and enjoy ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’ we can start to think to Marvel’s future, and how the repercussions of Joss Whedon’s sequel will reverberate throughout the studio’s future films.

And while we’ve got ‘Ant-Man’ coming up later this summer, the next big Marvel Studios effort is ‘Captain America: Civil War’. But during his talk with MTV Chris Evans was even looking beyond that, as he admitted that ‘Civil War’ will lead directly into ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.

“It’s to jump off into the next ‘Avengers: the Infinity Wars’. So ‘Cap 3’ is going to be kind of the setup for the real battle,” Evans explained.

During MTV’s discussions with Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Cobie Smulders, and Mark Ruffalo, the group teased about the amount of superheroes who will feature in the blockbuster, while Ruffalo and Hemsworth teased and lamented that their characters aren’t involved.

Johansson and Renner refused to reveal which side Black Widow and Hawkeye will fall on in ‘Civil War’, which is set to pit Iron Man against Captain America after a superhero registration act enforces superheroes to work as defacto police officers. Well that’s what happens in the comics, we’ll just have to wait and see how closely the film follows that arc.

‘Captain America: Civil War’ is going to feature Evans’ titular star, Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, Renner’s Hawkeye, Johansson’s Black Widow, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes, Anthony Mackie’s Falcon, Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther, Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, and it’s been heavily rumoured that whoever is hired to play Spider-Man will debut in the effort too.

We’ll find out if that’s true when ‘Captain America: Civil War’ debuts on April 29, 2016, while ‘Avengers: Infinity War Part 1’ and ‘Part 2’ will follow on April 27, 2018 and April 26, respectively.
