Chris Pine Joining Wonder Woman As Love Interest

‘Wonder Woman’ is beginning to take shape after it was alleged that Chris Pine is in talks to star as the male lead in Warner Bros.’ blockbuster.

The studio haven’t confirmed if that’s actually the case, but sources close to Variety have insisted that the ‘Star Trek’ and ‘Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit’ actor has beaten Scott Eastwood to land the role.

It’s believed that Chris Pine will portray Steve Trevor opposite Gal Gadot in the hugely anticipated film. Trevor is regarded as Wonder Woman’s primary love interest, and he’s been a mainstay of the comics since he first appeared all the way back in 1942.

It’s been speculated that Eastwood had actually been offered the role of Steve Trevor, however he decided to take a supporting part in ‘Suicide Squad’ instead.
Both of these films are part of Warner Bros.’ DC Cinematic Universe so it’s not as if Eastwood burned any bridges with his decision.

For Pine this is the second huge franchise of his career. The 34-year-old has exceled as James T. Kirk in both ‘Star Trek’ and ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’, but this is his first venture into the comic-book world.

Hopefully it will prove to be mores successful than his attempt to reinvigorate the Jack Ryan film series with 2014’s ‘Shadow Recruit,’ which failed to blossom after a disappointing box office return.

Pine is an impressive choice for the integral role. Not only does he ooze masculinity, but he’s proven that he has impressive comedic chops and can both lead a blockbuster and work well within an ensemble too.

And since ‘Wonder Woman’ is just the fourth film of the burgeoning DC Cinematic Universe to be released, we can expect Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor to turn up in several other blockbusters along the way too. ‘Wonder Woman’ is due out on June 23, 2017, and will be directed by Patty Jenkins.
