Chris Pratt Says He Was 'Impotent And Depressed' After Weight Ballooned

He’s buff as anything these days, and Chris Pratt has no desire to return to his former slovenly physique, it seems.

The ‘Jurassic World’ star, who famously pumped up for his role as Peter Quill in 'Guardians of the Galaxy’, has revealed how ballooning to 300lbs left him in a bad place.

Speaking to Men’s Health magazine, the 35-year-old said that he hit his all-time heaviest two years ago, and most consistently when he was playing the loveable Andy Dwyer in sitcom 'Parks and Recreation’, where he would often eat three or four cheeseburgers during script read throughs.

“I saw myself in an episode, and in the matter of two moments very close together, I thought, 'Oh my God, I’m getting fat’.

“And then almost immediately I did something else and I thought, 'Holy crap, I’ve never seen myself funnier’. And I put the two together.”

He then explained how various roles then required him to slim down, after which he had to bulk up again for 'Parks and Rec’.

“I’d gone back and forth, lost weight for Moneyball, got fat again, then trimmed down for Zero Dark Thirty, then gained it all back again for Andy,” he said.

“That’s when I saw Zero Dark Thirty and right after walking out I was like: 'I’m going to get in shape and I’m never going to be fat again’.

“I was impotent, fatigued, emotionally depressed. I had real health issues that were affecting me in a major way. It’s bad for your heart, your skin, your system, your spirit.”

He added that his weight also ballooned when he met his wife-to-be actress Anna Faris, who he married in 2009.

“We were drinking a lot of wine and having fun. I was her little Hansel out in the woods and she was fattening me up to put me in the fire. It was like Momma Bear and Papa Bear.

“She would eat a little bit, I would eat all of mine and the rest of hers.”
