Chris Rock has slated the movie ‘42’, the biopic of pioneering pro baseball player Jackie Robinson.

In a stand-up routine, the outspoken comedian took the movie, which starred Chadwick Boseman in the lead role, to pieces.

“People liked that movie,” Rock tells the crowd. “I thought it was a piece of sh*t.

“Just the whole ‘legend of Jackie Robinson’ bullsh*t.

“They try to make it seem like he got to play because he was so good - like he was the first black man that actually learned how to play baseball.

“Like all the black people before him were just licking the ball.”

He wasn’t overly happy either with Harrison Ford’s role in the film.

Ford played Branch Rickey, the president of the Brooklyn Dodgers who was credited with bringing Robinson into the team, the first African American to play in Major League Baseball.

The move effectively ended racial segregation in the sport.

“Any civil rights movie, there’s two heroes: There’s the black hero - and the white person who’s equally as important,” he adds.

The film, released in 2013, was written and directed by Brian Helgeland, the Oscar-winning writer of ‘LA Confidential’, ‘Mystic River’ and ‘Green Zone’.

Despite Rock’s disdain for the movie, it grossed nearly $100 million in the US, with critics generally praising the performances.

Rock’s takedown of the movie appears in the extras for the DVD release of his new comedy movie ‘Top Five’.
