Christoph Waltz's Bare Bottom Banned On Zero Theorem Poster

Christoph Waltz's Bare Bottom Banned On Zero Theorem Poster

Those hoping to catch a glimpse of ‘Django Unchained’ star Christoph Waltz’s bare behind have been delivered a devastating blow.

Posters for Terry Gilliam’s new sci-fi movie ‘The Zero Theorem’ have been banned by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA).

The poster features Waltz naked as the day he was born in the foetal position at the centre of a space-scape, surrounded by a collage of pictures of his own head.

But the bottom has proved to be too much for flesh for the censors.

On Gilliam’s Facebook page, he wrote:

“Zero Theorem is off to a good start in the US, thanks to the Motion Picture Association of America’s censors. They have banned our teaser poster because of a bare butt. Your thoughts, please.”

Fans quickly rallied in support of the image.

“So ridiculous, as if we don’t all have butt cracks!” said one.

“I think I’m turning gay, damn you Gilliam!” added another.

It’s the second time in recent months that the MPAA has stepped in over a poster deemed too explicit for public exhibition.

A poster for ‘Sin City: A Dame To Kill For’ was banned in May, due to its depiction of Eva Green.

Dimension Pictures were told that it was being pulled ‘for nudity - curve of under breast and dark nipple/areola circle visible through sheer gown’.

The poster was later made marginally less rude, and then given the green light.

'The Zero Theorem', which also stars Melanie Thierry, David Thewlis, Matt Damon, Ben Whishaw, Tilda Swinton and Rupert Friend, was out in the UK earlier this year.
