Cinderella: Holliday Grainger's Costume Landed Her A Trip To The Osteopath (Exclusive)

For ‘Cinderella’ actress Holliday Grainger, wearing fitted corsets to play one of the Ugly Stepsisters was nothing new as she’s previously appeared in period dramas including ‘Jane Eyre’ and ‘Anna Karenina.’

But having to wear an elaborate ballgown for two weeks straight on the live-action film actually had more repercussions that you’d think – in fact, she had to see an osteopath after filming.

The 27-year-old British actress, who plays Anastasia in Kenneth Branagh’s live-action film, revealed she suffered internal health problems because of the costumes.

“Sophie [McShera] and I did have a few sessions with an osteopath but you know, [it’s] all sorted,” she told us in the exclusive video above.

“It’s not good for you. The scariest thing about it is that halfway through the day is that if you haven’t taken [the corset] off, your legs start to feel heavy.”

She admitted that her legs actually began to swell on-set because the corset constricted circulation to her lower body.

“I think it’s literally the constriction of the blood flow and lack of circulation to the lower half of your body,” she said.

“You start to get pins and needles, it’s like the water retention in your legs - your legs swell. It’s really weird.”

The ‘Cinderella’ star also told us that she’s starred in so many period films that she knows all about the fashion from that era.

“I seem to be getting quite good at corsets actually. I’m now getting to the stage where I feel like I’ve been in so many periods, I now know what style of corset goes with what period,” she said.

You can watch our full interview with Holliday, along with her co-star Lily James, in the video at the top of the page.

‘Cinderella’ is in cinemas March 27.
