Dakota Johnson Under Fire For ISIS Skit On Saturday Night Live

Dakota Johnson might finally be getting some non-‘Fifty Shades’-based attention, but possibly for the wrong reasons.

The actress hosted ’Saturday Night Live’ over the weekend, and while she charmed viewers by making a pretty decent fist of the nerve-wracking task, one skit she appeared in has come under fire.

The premise was a spoof on a recent, hugely mawkish ad in the US from Toyota, in which a young girl is driven to the airport in a Camry where she’s off to join the US army.

But in the skit, Johnson is dropped off by her on-screen dad, played by castmember Taran Killiam, and then taken off in a pick-up truck full of masked jihadists.

Reassuring her worried dad, Johnson says ‘Dad, it’s just ISIS’, before skipping off to join the group in the truck.

The father character then says ‘take car of her’, the jihadist, played by Kyle Mooney, sincerely replying ‘death to America’, all played out an emotional score in the background.

Many failed to see the funny side, particularly following news stories about British and Canadian girls leaving home to join the militant group in Syria.

But others pointed out that it’s the long-running show’s job to be satirical.

Thus far Johnson or SNL have not commented on the skit.
