Daniel Craig Is A Better Bond Than Connery, Says Honor Blackman

Not only does Pussy Galore star Honor Blackman think that Daniel Craig is a better 007 than Sean Connery, she also reckons Connery would agree with her.

The 89-year-old veteran Bond star, who played the unforgettable Pussy in ‘Goldfinger’, back in 1964, made the comments during an interview in the Daily Mirror.

“I’m sorry to say he’s a better actor - but I think Sean would acknowledge that,” she said.

“I think Dan is terrific. He’s capable of so much more.”

'Sean was perfection as Bond only as Ian Fleming wrote it,” she went on.

“He was a Universe entrant, he was handsome and very, very, sexy and had that ridiculous accent.

“Now it’s no longer like Ian Fleming, it’s more like 'The Bourne Identity’.

“It’s a different kind of film. But that doesn’t make any difference to the fact they’re super films and Daniel is probably the best actor that ever played Bond.”

Ridiculous accent… ouch.

Who is the best Bond will likely be a pub row until the end of time - or at least until the end of pubs - but many view Connery as the quintessential depiction of Ian Fleming’s globe-trotting spy.

“You’re talking to somebody who is terribly biased,” continued Blackman.

“Ian Fleming wrote a certain character and it was fun when we accepted he was a misogynist and a brutal fellow, but we loved him just the same.

“But nowadays, unfortunately, we find that totally unacceptable. Now he has to love somebody, he has to care about women, he has to do all the things Fleming never intended.”

Craig has just been in for knee surgery, following an injury during a fight scene in forthcoming instalment, SPECTRE.

It’s due out on October 23.
