Darth Vader Returns In Star Wars Rebels

It’s been over 30 years since we saw Darth Vader take his final, asthmatic breath but now the iconic ‘Star Wars’ baddie is heading back to our screens in a special re-run of ‘Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion’.

“The critically-acclaimed epic adventure ‘Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion’ will air on ABC on Sunday, October 26,” they explain. And it looks as though we can expect a familiar villain to appear alongside the series regulars.

“We wanted to do something special for the ABC broadcast,” said executive producer Dave Filoni. “We’ve added a scene which gives audiences insight into the Inquisitor and includes a cameo by Darth Vader voiced by the distinguished actor James Earl Jones.”

The feature-length launch of the all-new animated TV series, saw ‘Star Wars’ fans taking their first, tentative steps into unexplored territory – the time period between ‘Revenge of the Sith’ and ‘A New Hope’. And while we’re still yet to see its first official episode, re-runs of ‘Spark of Rebellion’ will include some all-new additional scenes, featuring the return of James Earl Jones as the villainous Darth Vader.

Of course, Vader isn’t the first ‘Star Wars’ character to return in ‘Star Wars Rebels’. After all, we saw a rather interesting message from Obi-Wan Kenobi contained within Kanan’s holocron. But will he return in person?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see… but with many ‘Clone Wars’ fans latching onto this new animated series, it certainly makes sense to reintroduce some old faces. Quite how that will fit into the storyline of ‘Star Wars Rebels’ remains to be seen. But I get the feeling we can expect some more familiar faces to crop up – especially those familiar droids.

‘Star Wars Rebels’ stars Freddie Prinze Jr. as Jedi Kanan and Talor Gray as Ezra Bridger with a voice cast that includes Vanessa Marshall, Steve Blum, Tiya Sircar, David Oyelowo and Jason Isaacs.
