Disney’s ‘Frozen’ has just debuted on Sky Movies, and according to Sky Media it has become their highest-rated premiere ever.

In a tweet this afternoon, the comment stated that it had, during its first week of availability, been seen by an impressive five million viewers.

It’s hardly surprising, considering the massive and continued success the CG musical has experienced over the past 14 months, with a whopping $1.3 billion in worldwide box office takings.

Considering the unprecedented DVD and Blu-ray sales, as well as cinema sing-along release this Christmas, the viewing numbers were way beyond anything expected. In fact, it’s amazing that there was anyone left in the UK that hadn’t seen the movie… Or perhaps fans simply can’t get enough of Jen Lee and Chris Buck’s animated film.

Since initially hitting US cinemas in late 2013, the film’s gone on to break all sorts of records, with a couple of Oscars to its name, too. ‘Frozen’ went on to become the biggest-grossing animated film of all-time after surpassing Pixar’s ‘Toy Story 3’, and sits proudly as the fifth highest-grossing film of all-time.

No doubt the Christmas Day release came at an ideal time when families were off work and celebrating, so likely served as a convenient way to get everyone involved.

Despite the ongoing popularity of Elsa, Anna et al, parents won’t be shut of it just yet. The film, regardless of its snowy Arendelle setting, isn’t season specific, so it’ll remain in the minds of kids everywhere for some time to come.
