Disney's The Jungle Book Release Date Pushed Back

Disney have announced that their live-action ‘The Jungle Book’ update will be pushed back a year until 2016.

Originally planned for an October 2015 cinema release, the Jon Favreau-helmed movie will now hit cinemas 15 April, 2016, after the 3D tale was delayed in order to switch places with the studio’s sea adventure, ‘The Finest Hours’, starring Chris Pine, Casey Affleck and Eric Bana.

It’s now planned that ‘The Finest Hours’ will be released on 9 October, 2015, instead of Favreau’s live-action story, implying that ‘The Jungle Book’ may have fallen behind in its schedule or simply may require longer as an overall film process, especially considering the CGI at play, for Disney to produce the best film possible.

Shots from the set have already been seen on the internet courtesy of Favreau himself, but there’s no official reason why the film’s now shifted to 2016.

Starring Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson, Idris Elba, Sir Ben Kingsley, Christopher Walken, Jupita Nyong’o and newcomer Neel Sethi (as Mowgli), the impressive ensemble has already turned several heads, as it begins to build interest.

With a collection of Hollywood A-listers voicing the well-known characters such as Kaa (Johansson), Baloo (Murray), and Bagheera (Kingsley), the focus will be on Sethi, who’ll be the only human to feature predominantly in the Rudyard Kipling adaptation.
