Emily Blunt Wants To Play Captain Marvel

British actress Emily Blunt has revealed she’d be up for playing the lead role in Marvel’s upcoming female-led superhero film ‘Captain Marvel’.

In an interview with Screen Crush, the 31-year-old British actress revealed that she’s open to a comic book role and after Mike Ryan explained that there’s a strong fan backing to see her take the role of Captain Marvel, it seems she’s certainly interested.

“I think, it’s always for me, it’s always about—and now, more so—what am I putting out there,” she said. “What would be interesting for me and what would be interesting for people to see? So, if it’s an awesome part, it doesn’t matter if it’s a Marvel movie or a tiny movie, I’d be up for it.”

Unfortunately, Blunt admitted that there’s been no official discussion between herself and Marvel Studios but it seems she has already heard about the online buzz and joked that it could easily be turned into a musical.

“Let’s just call Marvel about that right now,” she joked. “We’ll call Kevin Feige about that. ‘Kevin Feige, we have one hell of an idea.’ Yeah…”

This isn’t the first time that Emily Blunt has been linked to a Marvel role. In fact, she was also up for the part of Black Widow in ‘Avengers Assemble’ – a role which we all know went to Scarlet Johansson. But it’s no secret that Marvel fans have been rather vocal in their campaign to bring Emily Blunt into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Could this be the right time to do it?

If you ask me, Emily Blunt would make an awesome Captain Marvel. We’ve already seen her kick ass recently in the edgy sci-fi flick, ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ and we certainly know she can handle those action-oriented roles. And let’s face it – she’d really look the part.

Will Emily Blunt get the chance to suit up? For now, we’ll have to wait and see. But I can’t help thinking that Marvel would be mad not to get in touch.
