Fantastic Four Will Surprise, Insists Mark Millar

The upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot is proving to be hugely divisive even though it’s still over two months away from hitting cinemas.

Loyal fans of the comics haven’t been overly pleased with its dark tone, which is at odds with the source material, while the debut trailer for ‘Fantastic Four’ suggested that it will be more complex and mature than its 2005 predecessor.

And Mark Millar, the Scottish comic book writer who co-wrote Ultimate Fantastic Four, the comic book series the reboot is based on, has admitted to Comic Book.com that he’s already seen chunks of the blockbuster, and teased that people will be surprised by it.

“I’ve seen chunks of it but not the complete movie, and it’s looking good,” Millar declared. “What I’m really excited for is to see how many people are surprised by it.”

Miller then explained,  “I remember everybody bitching about ‘Fantastic Four’ for about six months then the trailer came out and everyone is like, ‘This is really good.’ I think it’ll surprise people.”

The complaints originally lobbied at ‘Fantastic Four’ were due to the colour of Michael B. Jordan’s skin, the suits the posse were wearing, the fact that members of the cast admitted to never having read the comics, and, most recently, even the colour of The Thing’s eyes have drawn controversy.

However, as Millar noted, the release of the first trailer for ’Fantastic Four’ soon quelled these worries, and now audiences are excited to see what ‘Chronicle’ director Josh Trank can produce with a big budget behind him.

At the moment, anticipation over the film has stagnated due to the release of ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’ and ‘Mad Max: Fury Road,’ as well as the forthcoming ‘Jurassic World’, but we can expect that to rise again exponentially before ‘Fantastic Four’ hits UK cinemas on August 7, 2015.
