Fantastic Four’s Josh Trank Denies Film Was Co-Directed
The speculation and controversy surrounding 20th Century Fox’s upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot continues, as the film’s director Josh Trank has refuted claims that he was replaced by Matthew Vaughn on the troubled superhero movie.
The first report to this effect emerged this weekend at Superhero News, who claim Vaughn - a major player at Fox thanks to ‘X-Men: First Class’ and ‘Kingsman: the Secret Service,’ and also a producer on ‘Fantastic Four’ - had “assumed the role of director” for reshoots which took place following “poor test screenings.”

However, Trank responded directly to these claims on Twitter, denying all of it:
@SuperheroNewsCB Definitely not true. I haven’t even met MV in person, and there were no such test screenings.

Trank said more on the subject to Josh Wilding of Comic Book Movie:
@Josh_Wilding Hey Josh, not true. While MV has been very supportive, he’s never been to our set. There’s only been 1 director of FF2015. Me.

And then left some further strongly-worded advice to his Twitter followers:
Next time you read an article, whether it’s Hollywood Reporter or SuperheroNews, if they aren’t naming sources: it’s probably bullshit.

Trank’s already troubled reputation online has taken a further hit since his withdrawal from an upcoming ‘Star Wars’ spin-off movie in the works at Lucasfilm/Disney. Despite various reports on the matter, it remains unclear how amicable the split was.
Matthew Vaughn, for his part, has long since spoken in praise of Trank, declaring back in January, “I’ve seen the movie, it’s good… We’re all backing Josh Trank’s vision, and hopefully the world will like Josh Trank’s vision.”
We’ll all get to see for ourselves when ‘Fantastic Four’ opens on 6 August.
