Fate: The Winx Saga star Jacob Dudman lands first movie role in LGBTQ+ drama Now & Then

Jacob Dudman has been cast in his first movie role alongside Richard Armitage, Stephen Fry, Geraldine James and Alistair Petrie.

Star of popular Netflix series Fate: The Winx Saga, which just earned a second season, Dudman joins director Tom Vaughan's big screen adaptation of the LGBTQ+ novel Now & Then, written by William Corlett.

Now & Then has him down as a young version of protagonist Chris, while Dudman's co-star from The Stranger, Armitage, takes on the character in his adult years.

"I am thrilled to be joining the brilliant team already attached to Now & Then and reuniting with Richard, to explore the character of Chris in all its depths. The story struck me with its power and poetry," Dudman told The Hollywood Reporter.

"It's not only an empowering LGBTQ+ project, but a heartbreaking tale of the human experience."

The movie's casting director/producer Matt Western couldn't be happier with the acquisition of Dudman, who beamed: "Jacob Dudman is, without doubt, one of the most interesting young actors in the UK.

"His understanding of the subtle complexity of the role of 'young Chris' is extraordinary, and we are thrilled to welcome him to, what I believe will be, a career-defining role."

Now & Then centres on a mother in her late 60s and her gay, middle-aged son, as they explore past mistakes to understand their relationship with each other.

Expect Now & Then to arrive in cinemas sometime next year.
