Final Destination Creator To Direct New Horror The Final Reel

Jeffrey Reddick, writer of the original ‘Final Destination,’ is set to make his feature directorial debut on another horror movie with a rather climactic title - ‘The Final Reel.’

The Hollywood Reporter tell us that the film will be about "a director who can manipulate reality through film and torments the residents of a small town by bringing their darkest fears to life.”

Reddick will also write the screenplay, whilst Matt Nicholas of production house Rebel Maverick will produce. No word yet on casting or when the film is set to shoot.

'Final Destination' unexpectedly became one of the biggest horror sensations of the early 2000s. Taking the unusual approach of presenting a horror movie without a tangible villain or monster, the film showed a group of teenagers avoid dying in a plane crash thanks to a premonition - only for death itself to come back after them, in increasingly bizarre 'accidents.'

It spawned four follow-up films, and the franchise has grossed just over $665 million worldwide. Reddick return to executive produce and co-wrote the story for ‘Final Destination 2,’ but was not involved in the franchise beyond that point.

He has since written 2005’s high school revenge horror ‘Tamara,’ and the 2008 remake of ‘Day of the Dead.’
