First Image of Dave Bautista's Henchman Mr Hinx In SPECTRE

The first photo has been released of Dave Bautista in costume and character as new Bond baddie Mr Hinx in the upcoming ‘SPECTRE,’ and - wouldn’t you know it - he looks like somebody you wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of.

Empire premiered the still today, along with an incognito shot of Sam Mendes directing Lea Seydoux (see below) on the set of the in-production 24th James Bond movie.

After ‘Skyfall’ brought back Q, Miss Moneypenny and a male M (in Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris and Ralph Fiennes respectively), it seems that ‘SPECTRE’ looks to bring back some more of the classic Bond staples of yesteryear - among them an iconic bad guy henchman to rival the likes of Jaws and Oddjob.

Bautista seemed an entirely logical choice, off the back of what looks to be the career-defining role of Drax the Destroyer in 2014’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’ He’s also reported to be following up ‘SPECTRE’ by playing the evil Kurgan in the upcoming ‘Highlander’ remake, so there’s clearly a lot of gravel-throated badassery in his future.

However, Bautista stresses to Empire that we shouldn’t expect Hinx to just be more of what we’re now used to from the wrestler/MMA fighter-turned-actor:

"When I came over to meet Sam [Mendes], I only asked two questions. I asked him if Mr. Hinx was a badass. He said, ‘Yes, he’s a badass.’ I said, ‘Well, is Mr. Hinx intelligent?’ He said, ‘Very.’

"That’s what I like about Mr. Hinx. He’s very well-dressed and very well-mannered. I’m not just here to fight people. He has a sense of humour. He definitely knows what a metaphor is."

Anyone who’s seen ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ should understand that reference. (And if you haven’t seen it yet, what on earth are you waiting for?)

Lea Seydoux also hints at something more than the norm from her character Dr. Madeleine Swann. There’s been a lot of talk about the term ‘Bond Girl’ of late, with Monica Bellucci - the oldest actress to qualify for the title at age 50 - suggesting she’d prefer to be called a “Bond Woman or Bond Lady.”

'Blue is the Warmest Colour' actress Seydoux also expresses uncertainties about the traditional Bond Girl label:

"I don’t consider myself a Bond girl. I think I’m not really the stereotyped Bond girl. I feel quite different. You can’t be like, ‘Oh, James.’ You have to find something else.

"She’s not a fighter, she’s a doctor… She fights in another way."

More will be revealed in the new issue of Empire. ‘SPECTRE’ hits UK cinemas on 23rd October 2015.
