First Look: Aardman Release Early Man Poster

British animators Aardman have released a new poster for their upcoming feature ‘Early Man’, and it looks rather appealing, to say the least.

As with any production from the award-winning studio, they’ve stamped their unique style onto this, even though we only get a glimpse of our as yet unnamed protagonists.

With successes like ‘Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit’ and ‘Chicken Run’ to their name, hopes are naturally high for their latest film which is their first since 2012′s swashbuckling ‘The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists!’

So far any details on the production are sketchy, but the official synopsis says that it’s “set at the dawn of time, when woolly mammoths and dinosaurs roamed the earth. One plucky caveman must unite his tribe against a mighty enemy and save the day for everyone.”

Sure it’s a bit vague and comparisons could be drawn to Pixar’s ‘The Good Dinosaur’, but Aardman always offer something fresh and different to the animation world.

With the BFI and Studio Canal snapping this up after it sold its rights earlier this month during the Cannes Film Festival, the UK release should be a fairly prominent one, considering the studio’s popularity and success over here.

The sensibility of Bristol-based Aardman and its lead creator on the project, Prestonian Nick Park, means their output connects strongly to the British public and will likely sell well when it comes to fruition.

It’s worth mentioning the image of the two main characters – a caveman and a hog – somewhat mirror the adventuring duo Wallace and Gromit, so audiences shouldn’t find it too hard to invest, especially if it turns out to be a fun buddy movie of similar ilk.

Expect to hear a lot more on ‘Early Man’ over the coming months.
