First Look At Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool

Ryan Reynolds has shared the first official photo of himself as Deadpool from the set of the long-awaited 20th Century Fox film.

Never one to adhere to stereotype, the first look at Deadpool doesn’t fit the norm for superhero movies. Where Wolverine or Batman might look moody and ready for action, Deadpool instead looks ready to be painted like one of your French girls.

It may also be a homage to Burt Reynolds’ famous Playgirl photoshoot, which you can search for at your own peril.

As an adaptation of the comic book costume it looks pretty much flawless. There does appear to be some CG around the eyes, but if that looks good in the final film then it’ll easily be one of the best Hollywood superhero costumes ever.

Full production recently began with Morena Baccarin as Copycat, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Gina Carano as Angel Dust and Ed Skrein in supporting roles. An official synopsis for the film followed the picture reveal.

“Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, ‘Deadpool’ tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.”

Directed by Tim Miller, ‘Deadpool’ is set for release on 12 February, 2016.
