Frozen 2 Is Happening Says Idina Menzel

Idina Menzel has confirmed that ‘Frozen 2’ is going to happen.

The singer, who voiced the character of Princess Elsa in the 2013 animated behemoth, alluded to the revelation during an interview with the Telegraph.

After being quizzed about the upcoming stage musical of ‘Frozen’, as well as a short film and a possible sequel, Menzel announced: “They’re all in the works.”

Buoyed by this revelation, Menzel was then asked whether she might return for the follow-up. The 43-year-old noted that she is hopeful that she will be asked back, but confirmed that she probably won’t be involved in the stage show.

“Not the stage show,” she proclaimed, “I don’t know what will happen with that, but the movie hopefully. We’ll see. I’m just going along for the ride.“

It’s safe to say that Idina Menzel will be asked back to voice Elsa for a second time. The Broadway veteran was well known in the theatre world for her sterling voice, but Menzel’s turn in ‘Frozen’ helped to turn her into a member of the Hollywood elite.

Having sung the likes of ‘Let It Go’ and ‘For The First Time In Forever’, Menzel is now adored by infant girls across the world.

In fact, without her ‘Frozen 2’ simply would not work.

But whether we will actually see it any time soon is very much up for debate.

Disney will want to give the stage version of the film the chance to be hugely successful and the announcement of a follow-up to the $1.2 billion film might undercut that incarnation.

Still, it’s good to hear that it is at least in the pipeline. Now we just need to hear that Jennifer Lee, Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Robert Lopez, Kristen Bell and Josh Gad are all returning before we can get really excited.
