George Lazenby Cast In New UK Dracula Movie

One-time James Bond actor George Lazenby has been cast in ‘Dracula 2015: Killer on the Catwalk,’ a black comedy take on the classic horror tale from Gulf Atlantic Pictures going into production soon here in Britain.

Shropshire Star report that the film, which will shoot in Shropshire, will see the 75-year old Australian portray “a vampire hunter named Professor Norris.” He will go head-to-head with Lithuanian model James Tratas who takes on the title role of Dracula.

Famously, Lazenby was himself a male model with no previous acting experience when he took over from Sean Connery in 1969’s ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’ - only to quit the role immediately thereafter.

It seems unlikely that ‘Dracula 2015: Killer on the Catwalk’ has cast two male models by accident, given that - as the title suggests - it takes place in the world of fashion.

Producer John Peters describes the film as follows:

"The story follows Damien Racula (Adam Isdale, another model-turned-actor), a vampire-obsessed and egomaniac fashion designer, his ambitious publicist Sophie, vampire hunters Professor Kovacs and his feisty granddaughter, Julia, a try-hard DJ named DJ Van Helsing and a wacky nightclub promotions girl called Rebel.”

Rebel will be played by Rachael Howlett, daughter of Liam Howlett of The Prodigy and Natalie Appleton of All Saints, previously seen as young Lara in ‘Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.’

Peters promises the film will be “very stylish, with a lot of focus on fashion and design.”

Not one for the purists, from the sound of things; but it’s not as if there’s any shortage of distinctly oddball Dracula movies. The last few years alone have seen the Count take on the form of CGI preying mantis in Dario Argento’s ‘Dracula 3D.’

Reportedly budgeted at approx £1.3 million, it would appear there are no plans for ‘Dracula 2015: Killer on the Catwalk’ to be distributed theatrically, but instead to go direct to Netflix and other online services.
