Grumpy Cat – the internet meme turned furry film star – has made a staggering £64 million in two years, according to reports.

Not a bad haul for simply being born with a grouchy countenance.

The cat from Morristown, Arizona, and whose real name is Tardar Sauce, made the shift to the big screen last month, starring in her own movie ‘Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever’ on the Lifetime Channel (voiced by ‘Parks & Rec’ star Aubrey Plaza).

And she’s already earning significantly more than some of the top 10 highest-earning film stars.

To put it in some context, Leonardo DiCaprio made £50 million, and Bradley Cooper, £47.5 million in the same period.

She’s also earning more than Gwyneth Paltrow, who made £12 million last year, and footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, who made £27.1 million.

Speaking to the Daily Express, Tardar Sauce’s owner Tabatha Bundesen, custodian of all that cash, said: “What she’s achieved in such a short time is unimaginable and absolutely mind-blowing.

“I was able to quit my job as a waitress within days of her first appearance on social media and the phone simply hasn’t stopped ringing since.”

The cat’s cash-trawling expression is down to a feline form of dwarfism, giving her a flattened face and large eyes but whether there’s a prolonged career in the movies for the miserable feline remains to be seen.

The film was given a bit of a pounding, after broadcast in November, the AV Club calling it ‘the largest turd in [Lifetime’s] crap crown of original programming’.

However, there were some voices of support, Tim Goodman in the Hollywood Reporter saying: “The Christmas miracle of this movie is that Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever isn’t the worst Christmas movie ever.”
