Guardians Of The Galaxy’s James Gunn Will Start Writing Script Next Week

James Gunn has given a status update on ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 2′, and he’s revealed that he will start writing the screenplay in a matter of days.

Gunn confirmed that he was going to have a meeting with Marvel regarding the treatment for ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 2,’ and once they’ve OK’d this he will finally start writing.

During his chat with Screen Rant, Gunn remarked, “I turned in my treatment. I’m going in to meet about it Friday and we will start working on the screenplay next week.” Gunn also explained that the treatment is 70 pages long and the script is “very, very far along.”

Talking about his experiences so far with ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 2′, Gunn explained that it is his own original story, will deviate from the comics and Marvel have even called it a “risk.”

But despite the obvious pressure that will come with writing and directing the sequel to the hugely successful ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’, Gunn explained that bouncing ideas off of Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Jonathan Schwartz, each of whom work as Marvel producers, was the “best experience he ever had with a pitch.”

We’ll see if that excitement can translate to the big-screen when ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 2′ hits screens on May 5 2017. ‘
