Hans Zimmer Composing Wonder Woman & Aquaman Themes For Batman v Superman

Legendary composer Hans Zimmer has been speaking about his work scoring Warner Bros’ superhero epic ‘Batman v Superman’.

On the red carpet at this past weekend’s Academy Awards, Zimmer - who lost in the Best Original Score category to Alexandre Desplat - said he still had a lot of work to do.

After first joking about MTV’s Josh Horowitz bringing up his unfinished work on his “one evening off”, Zimmer then said he had a “couple of ideas” about what the score might be.

Horowitz then asked about whether he’s composing themes for Wonder Woman (Gal Gaodt) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa) - the two other heroes who will star in the Zack Snyder picture.

"I’m trying," Zimmer said. "Put it that way. We’re in early days. But yes, of course, ideally that is what you want to do."

But will the famed composer be scoring any future films in Warner Bros’ fledging DC Cinematic Universe? MTV asked whether he knows for sure. “No, not at all. Because the studio is going to hedge its bets if I ruin this one,” he joked.

Finally Zimmer revealed why he handed over the responsibility of creating the new Batman theme to Junkie XL - whose work includes ‘Divergent’, ‘300: Rise of an Empire’ and this year’s ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’.

After ten years working with Christopher Nolan on the director’s Dark Knight trilogy, Zimmer felt he didn’t want to “betray” Nolan by creating a new score.

Zimmer has a lot of work to do but plenty of time to do it ahead of the release of ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ on 25 March 2016.
